PRINCETON, Ky. (AP) -- Fire officials were trying to find the cause of a blaze that left a 41-year-old Princeton man dead.

William Paul Jenkins, a farmhand, was found near the back door of his mobile home on Sunday, Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis said.

A passing motorist called the fire department at 12:25 a.m. (CST) and reported that a mobile home was on fire, Francis said.

''It looked like he had probably tried to escape the fire,'' Francis said.

When firefighters arrived, the mobile home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the blaze under control within 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire and the death remained under investigation. An autopsy was scheduled Monday by the state medical examiner's office in Madisonville.
