PARIS (AP) -- A fire erupted Tuesday in a baggage area where work was under way at Charles de Gaulle airport, forcing the evacuation of several hundred people but causing no injuries, airport officials said.

A section of Terminal 1 was evacuated as a precaution, said a statement by Aeroports de Paris, or ADP, which runs the airports serving the French capital.

Seven flights set to take off at Terminal 1 were transferred to another terminal, an ADP statement said. However, within two hours, the terminal was fully reopened, according to the statement.

The fire broke out at 8:03 a.m. in the section housing the baggage in an area of Terminal 1 where work was under way, ADP officials said.

Some 50 firefighters with about 10 vehicles brought the blaze under control an hour later, rescue officials and ADP said.

In May, a section of a roof on a futuristic new terminal at Charles de Gaulle collapsed, killing four people.

Charles de Gaulle, north of Paris, is the main airport serving the Paris region.
