An Sunday morning fire heavily damages a Paris apartment building.

At around five Sunday morning, residents on Pleasant Street woke up to flames and smoke.

Neighbors say they had never seen anything like it and were concerned about the families who lived there.

35 firefighters from Bourbon County and surrounding areas worked for more than four hours.

The apartments smoldered all afternoon.

People were living in five of the six units. Now, fourteen people are left without homes.

Officials say the tenants were lucky that they escaped the blaze and the fire department says the building is a total loss.

The American Red Cross is working with the families to make sure that they have a warm place to stay and clothes on their back.

While no residents were injured, a volunteer firefighter from Paris had a minor injury and was treated and released from the hospital.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
