New Jersey Firefighter Fines Faced

Last week a notice was sent that cites the city for three violations -- the most serious being that the city allowed unsafe working conditions for its firefighters by not explicitly requiring that at least four firefighters be on hand before beginning to battle structure fires internally, two to enter the building and two to stand by as potential rescuers in the event the "inside" firefighters get into trouble
BRIDGETON -- Chief David Schoch has been pressuring city officials to hire more firefighters for his department.

Now, the state has joined the push for more firefighters -- at least in a roundabout way.
