Firefighters Rescue Boy Stranded on Ice in Minneapolis, Minn.

An 11-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters just after 5 p.m. Thursday after he walked on the Mississippi River ice to a pylon on the Camden bridge in North Minneapolis but was unable to walk back because ice around the pylon was breaking up.

An 11-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters just after 5 p.m. Thursday after he walked on the Mississippi River ice to a pylon on the Camden bridge in North Minneapolis but was unable to walk back because ice around the pylon was breaking up.

The boy sat on the pylon and called for help until a passerby saw him and called 911.

Firefighters used an inflatable boat to reach the boy and bring him safely to shore. He was not injured.
