(New York -WABC, December 17, 2004) -- The Eastern Spur of the New Jersey Turnpike was shut down to traffic for some time Friday morning after a tractor trailer fire.
The truck was south of Route 46 on the highway when it got involved in a collision with a car and exploded into flames.
It burned out of control for about 15 minutes before fire crews could get there and get water on it.
Metro Traffic reports it was told the truck was full of bread, and that's why was burning so hard.
The flames set off a brush fire nearby.
Vehicles were being diverted off the Eastern Spur onto the Western Spur at the Vince Lombardi Service Center. Traffic was flowing again just before 8:30 a.m.
