Wellington, FL -- Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue not only can save cats stranded in trees, now they also pull drowning horses from canals or septic tanks.

The agency is able to respond to the unusual, but not unheard of, equine rescues after receiving specialized training from a Clemson University veterinarian professor and his wife.

"It doesn't happen very often, but it's just nice to be able handle it when they do," Fire-Rescue Capt. Don DeLucia said. "If you think about what our community is, people have all kinds of expensive livestock
