OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- The son of an Omaha fire captain has been sentenced to three to six years in prison for arson fires that caused more than $500,000 in losses to two rental car companies.

Twenty-four-year-old Joshua Andrews reportedly was despondent after getting fired from the two companies when he set the fires in March.

Andrews' attorney said firefighters arrived at Andrews' home hours later and found him suicidal.

Douglas County District Judge James Gleason sentenced the son of Fire Captain Michael Andrews to prison instead of probation requested by the younger Andrews' attorney.

Gleason said he opted for the prison term because of the potential danger of the acts.
