A 13-year-old Brooklyn boy whose family had just lost its lease has been arrested for sparking an inferno in the building, sending at least eight people to the hospital, fire officials said.

The boy admitted to lighting matches and throwing them into a pile of trash, said supervising Fire Marshal William Law.

"He was doing it to start a fire," Law said. "It was deliberate."

The boy was arrested and charged with arson in the second degree. He'll be tried in Family Court.

His name is being withheld because of his age.

Law said the family's lease to their apartment at 629 Wilson Ave. in Bushwick had expired yesterday. The family is on a waiting list for public housing, he said. It is unclear if the lease had anything to do with the boy's alleged arson.
