BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) -- An explosion ripped through a fireworks warehouse near the capital on Thursday, injuring at least three people, officials said.
The explosion occurred just after 5 p.m. (1500GMT) in the warehouse at an industrial plant in Torokbalint, a town on the southwestern outskirts of Budapest.
The blast touched off secondary explosions by firecrackers and other pyrotechnic elements, making it difficult for firefighters to get near the warehouse, said Peter Molnar, a spokesman for the Budapest Fire Department.
Several houses and vehicles nearby were set on fire, he said.
``Three or four people were slightly injured, but our search is still underway,'' said spokesman Pal Gyorfi of the National Ambulance and Emergency Service.
