ATLANTA (AP) -- Two people were treated Tuesday for ammonia exposure when up to 2,000 pounds of the chemical leaked from a Fulton County warehouse, triggering a fire, authorities said.

The people treated were employees of AmeriCold Logistics where the leak occured, said Pansy Ricks, deputy director of the Atlanta-Fulton Emergency Management Agency.

Firefighters also were trying to extinguish a two-alarm fire there.

Although some businesses near the ammonia leak were evacuated, no homes were evacuated, Ricks said.

The leak happened when maintenance work was being done on a line inside the facility, said Gary Andrews, spokesman for the state Department of Natural Resources.

A high concentration of ammonia caused the blaze, authorities said.
