A gas grill exploded after a cookout on Parkwood Place off Halstead Road, damaging the roof of a home Wednesday.

Nate Wilson, shift captain with the Ocean Springs Fire Department, said a call was received at 7:25 p.m. about a fire at the Reisch residence.

He said the gas grill on a covered patio had been turned off when the family heard an explosion. Fire rolled into the attic and burned through the roof in one area, he said. Sheetrock was damaged in the kitchen and dining room, but nobody was injured.
