Georgia, Savannah Firefighters Battling Stubborn Warehouse Fire

Oct. 14, 2004
Fire Crews tell us a warehouse building being used to store furniture caught fire.
Firefighters responded to a massive and stubborn fire on West Henry Street near Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard. Crews tell us a warehouse building being used to store furniture caught fire around 1pm.

Billowing smoke can be seen for miles, and firefighters are having a tough time getting near the building to fight the flames and keep them from spreading.

We're told the owner of the building entered the building and flipped a light switch. At that point, a wire caught fire and flames spread in the building.

The fire is also affecting power lines above the streets. We're told a transformer has blown, and we do have reports of power outages in the area.

WTOC has crews on the scene and will have more on this story as information becomes available.
