An overnight fire damaged part of an Antioch apartment building and injured two Metro firefighters trying to put out the flames.

Some of the people who live at the Hickory Trace Apartments got home late Sunday night to find heavy smoke and flames burning out of control. Everyone in the building had to evacuate while firefighters worked to put out the flames. But, in the process, two Metro firefighters were hurt.

Metro assistant fire chief Lee Bergeron said, "We did have one firefighter checked out by our medic unit because of heat stress and one had fallen during the firefighting phase and bruised some ribs, but I think they're both going to be okay."

Officials have no idea what may have started the fire. An investigator will be looking into that on Monday.
