HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) -- Two people were held Tuesday on charges related to a Sept. 26 house fire that authorities now say was deliberately set.

DeSoto County officials said Charles Jones, 27, of Eudora faces charges of arson and three counts of attempted murder in connection with the fire. Bond for Jones was set at $750,000

Jones's girlfriend, Angela Veasley, 26, of Walls, is charged with being an accessory after the fact. Officials said her bond was set at $75,000.

Both Jones and Veasley were being held in the DeSoto County Jail.

Paul LeBlanc, DeSoto County's deputy fire marshal, said when the Eudora Fire Department arrived at the house, they found that someone had doused the front and back doors with gasoline and had set fire to the back door.

A 26-year-old woman, her 2-year-old son, and the woman's boyfriend were in the house at the time of the fire but were not injured. Their names have not been released.

``The boyfriend had found a pot or a pail or something and he was using that to throw water on the fire,'' LeBlanc said. ``He almost had the fire knocked down by the time the fire department arrived.''

LeBlanc said damage was confined to the rear of the house.

DeSoto County Fire Coordinator Bobby Storey said the investigation began as soon as the back door cooled down.
