GREENVILLE, Iowa (AP) -- A firefighter suffered serious burns while fighting a fire at an auto repair shop in this northwest Iowa town, officials said.

The fire at Chad's Repair broke out about 4 p.m. Thursday. The initial call was for a pickup truck on fire. When firefighters arrived, the fire had spread to the building, officials said.

The injured firefighter was taken to a Spencer hospital, then flown to a hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. The firefighter's name and his condition were not immediately released.

Investigators believe the fire started when a light was dropped on the floor under the truck that was being serviced, and it ignited some gasoline on the floor.

Greenville is just south of Spencer.
