An overloaded electrical cord may have sparked a fire in the Bronx that killed two young brothers Saturday.

The flames broke out at 1216 Burke Avenue in Baychester shortly after 2 a.m.

The body of 12-year-old William Bergamy was found in the top bunk in his smoke-filled bedroom in the second-floor apartment. Five-year-old Reginal Bergamy, who had been sleeping in his mother?s bedroom, was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.

After thick smoke prevented the mother and the boy?s grandfather from saving William, the two adults fled, mistakenly thinking Reginald was with them.

Seven firefighters suffered minor injuries while extinguishing the blaze at the seven-story building, which is part the Eastchester Gardens complex.
