Take about 90 gallons of glue.
Mix in some nails.
Throw in Airport Freeway during rush hour.
And you get one gigantic traffic nightmare.
A roofing contractor's truck spilled about 18 5-gallon buckets of glue and some nails along Texas 183 in Bedford on Tuesday night. The cause of the spill was not known.
The spill -- at 5 p.m. near the Bedford Road exit -- snarled traffic for more than three hours and for several miles, Bedford police Sgt. Bill Pond said.
"That makes for a sticky situation," said Brad Bilger, Bedford fire battalion chief. "No pun intended."
No major accidents were reported because of the spill.
Emergency crews initially thought that the liquid was paint but later determined that it was glue, Bilger said.
They were concerned about safety because the liquid was flammable, but it did not start a fire.
"This would have taken more than a cigarette to get it going," Bilger said. "Once it gets out in the air and ventilated, it loses a lot of its flammability."
The Bedford Fire Department and the Texas Department of Transportation cleaned up the mess.
For almost an hour after drivers reported the spill, only one lane of westbound traffic remained open, Bilger said.
You might say some unhappy motorists were stuck in traffic.
