An explosion leveled a house in north central Iowa Friday morning, leaving at least one person hospitalized.

WOOLSTOCK, Iowa (AP) -- An explosion leveled a house in north central Iowa Friday morning, leaving at least one person hospitalized.

Emergency crews responded to the incident that sparked a fire at a house in Woolstock, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Dodge.

A man and two children were rescued from the home, but no one was seriously injured, according to news accounts. The homeowner was taken away from the scene in an ambulance. Witnesses said the man appeared to have burns.

Two children also were taken from the scene in an ambulance but their condition wasn't immediately known.

The state fire marshal's office was investigating.
