CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Three firefighters battling a house fire in east Charlotte were taken to the hospital on Monday morning with injuries.

Paramedic Paige Sheehan said the injuries were not serious. One firefighter was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, and the other two were taken to Presbyterian Matthews.

The fire, which officials say started as a grease fire in the kitchen, rekindled itself after firefighters thought they put it out Sunday night. They had to return around 5 a.m. to put it out again.

A man living in the home was also taken to the hospital with second-degree burns.

The fire destroyed the home on Brinsdale Court.
