A fast-moving fire at a seniors housing complex on Long Island has left several residents there injured.

It happened overnight in Rockville Center.

On Monday morning, things were much quieter inside Rockville Manor. But there are still eight apartments on the top floor that did receive heavy damage and residents can't go back inside of them.

The fire started inside the senior center just before 11:00 p.m Sunday. Officials believe it began in a third floor apartment and the man who lived there was hurt. He received second and third degree burns. Paramedics worked on him at the scene and he was then taken to Nassau University Medical Center. Around 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning, he was in critical condition.

Dozens of other seniors who lived in the assisted living center had to be evacuated. There were nearly 50 people who lived in the center and one firefighter had to be brought to the hospital.

At this point, officials say the fire does not look suspicious. But as procedure follows, the arson squad was brought in and the investigation continues into the cause of this fire.
