NEW YORK (AP) -- Debris on downtown Manhattan subway tracks caused a fire that snarled rush hour service Thursday on four lines, transit officials said.

The fire was reported just south of the F line's Broadway and Lafayette stop at 7:17 a.m., and put out at 8:06 a.m., said Marisa Baldeo, a spokeswoman for NYC Transit.

No trains were passing through at the time and no one was injured, she said.

The F train's service between downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn was diverted to another track, V service was suspended in both directions and the B and D train service was suspended between midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, she said.
