Mike Doria (Rush, NY) 05/25/04 -- Firefighters in Rush had a difficult time rescuing a teenager late Monday night after he and a group of friends tried to raft down Honeoye Creek near the dam.
Investigators said the boys had bought some rafts made for use in a swimming pool and put them in the creek, which was full of churning water after many days of rain.
Despite the harrowing rescue, all four boys and rescuers made it out OK.
Lt. Mike Terzo of the Rush Fire Department said, "Ever stick your arm out the car window when it's going 70 miles an hour? That's what it felt like going out in that water."
The teens should not have been in the creek and may face charges.
