EASTON -- Firefighter Robert Halley performed a public service Thursday that had nothing to do with smoke or fire.

Halley, who has been with the Easton Fire Department for about nine years, found two missing 5-year old girls -- one barefoot -- walking near Easton's central fire station at Sixth and Northampton streets.

Jennifer Worman, who was babysitting Alyssa Mosley in the 1300 block of Pine Street, reported the child missing from a back yard at 1:44 p.m.

The other child, Mikayla Fowlin, was being watched by her grandmother in the 1300 block of Lehigh Street.

Halley was sitting outside the station when he saw the girls. The two told Halley they didn't know their home addresses, but said they met and wandered off with the intention of walking over the Northampton Street free bridge.
