WASHINGTON (AP) -- D.C. fire officials said a fire early Sunday morning in an abandoned home in Northeast was suspicious.

It happened at around 2:00 a.m., in the 100 block of 36th Street.

One woman had to jump from the second floor of the building to escape the flames.

Investigators said the fire may have started on a mattress on the first floor.

Neighbors say homeless people and drug dealers routinely use the house as a hang-out. They say they've complained to the police, who occasionally raid the home but then don't board it up.
