The Essex County Prosecutor's Office urged a judge yesterday to block further public disclosure about the role of mob informants in the investigation of the fatal dormitory fire at Seton Hall University in 2000.

The prosecutor's request for a "protective order" involves details on the recruitment and compensation to mob-hitman Thomas Ricciardi and his mobster brother, Daniel, who helped investigators gather evidence that led to indictments in the Jan. 19, 2000, fire that killed three students and injured 58 others.
