A $1.75 million fuel-spill fire simulator that sat boxed and unused for nearly 10 years has finally been installed for training volunteer firefighters in Sussex County.

The device was unveiled yesterday at the county fire academy in Frankford.

The idea for the simulator was raised in 1990 by the academy and the equipment was purchased by the county in 1994. But installation was costly and complex, and the project stalled.
