A Jersey City resident was forced out of her home as an electrical fire ripped through the living room of her basement apartment, Fire Capt. Andrew Johnson said.

At 7:35 a.m., firefighters responded to the three-story, 12-family building on Tonnelle Avenue between Pavonia and Garrison avenues found the basement room on fire, Johnson said.
