A lightning strike likely sparked a garage fire in Jersey City during yesterday evening's thunderstorm and four blown electrical transformers caused pockets of power outages in the city's Marion section, officials said.

At 4:51 p.m., firefighters responded to the burning garage behind a building at Woodlawn and Garfield avenues and fire fighters made quick work of the blaze, which did heavy damage to the structure and destroyed items stored inside, Johnson said.
