Jacksonville, Florida Firefighter Chosen For Cross Country Cycling Team

Jacksonville Firefighter Terry Dennis has been selected as a team member of the 5 Points of Life Cross Country Cycling Team.

Jacksonville Firefighter Terry Dennis has been selected as a team member of the 5 Points of Life Cross Country Cycling Team.

Dennis will be one of 12 cyclists making the 3,500 mile trek from Seattle, Washington, to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The purpose of the ride is to raise awareness of the importance of blood and organ donations.

Dennis will be one of 12 riders representing eight states and South Africa. The team will participate in more than 50 donor awareness events including stops at nine state Capitols.

Each team member was selected through a national application process. Part of the application included a personal story about how a donation has impacted his or her life. Together they provide a compelling vision of how donations, or lack of donations, can impact lives from the perspective of donors, recipients and close family members.

The riders will share their experiences at blood drives, marrow drives and donor awareness events organized by local donor organizations on their journey across the country.
