SALEM, ORE. - Two crashes involving ambulances happened over the past couple of days - one in Eugene and one in Salem.

The Salem crash happened around 3:40 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Liberty and West Union Northeast.

Fire officials say the ambulance was responding to a call when it hit a tree.

No other cars were involved, but both paramedics had to be pulled out of the wreckage and taken to the hospital.

An intern from Chemeketa Community College was also in the ambulance, but there is no word whether that person was also taken to the hospital.

Medical help never reached the scene of a car crash in Eugene on Saturday, after an ambulance was involved in a crash of its own.

An ambulance was on the way to the scene of a car accident when it was hit by a pickup and knocked into a telephone pole.

The paramedics never arrived at the scene of the other car crash and a victim from each vehicle ended up dying at the scene.

There is no word on the condition of the paramedics or the driver who hit the ambulance.
