It was a long night for residents forced to flee their homes after a propane truck crashed in Genesee County. People have been allowed to return to their homes, but the clean-up is just beginning. News 4's Barbara Pinson has latest from the scene.

Crews in Genesee County took action to keep the crash from turning into a major situation.

Investigators say a tanker got into a minor accident on Sumner Road at Colby in the Town of Darien late Monday afternoon.

The tanker rolled into a ditch, and leaked some propane. The truck driver was not seriously hurt.

Emergency crews evacuated nearby residents just as a precaution, and shut down Sumner from Colby to Route 77.

A man who heard the whole thing says he was on edge once he saw what kind of vehicle had crashed.

Charges are not expected at this time against the driver.

Most neighbors have been allowed to return home. At this time the road is still closed.
