An Old Hickory house fire has taken the life of a 4-year-old boy.

The fire started Sunday morning on Overton Street while the Russell family was asleep. Kenny Russell's older brother rushed to wake their parents. They searched the house, but couldn't find the child.

A firefighter finally found Kenny and attempted rescue twice, but was burned himself. The family, uninsured, lost everything. But that's the least of their concerns.

Kenny's dad Wayne Russell said, "The house, the stuff in it, don't matter. It can all be replaced. Kenny can't. But I'll see him later in heaven."

When Kenny was 2 years old, a fall landed him in a coma that nearly took his life. Wayne Russell said he was thankful to have two more years with his boy.

A fund has been set up for Kenny's family. People can contribute at any Union Planter's Bank to the "Kenny Russell Family Fund ".
