San Antonio, Texas Father And Son Perish In House Fire

May 3, 2004
San Antonio firefighters arrived to the house engulfed by flames and, they found one victim dead in the doorway.

A father and son are dead, after their home on the west side goes up in flames.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. Monday at the house in the 500 block of Ceralvo, near South Zarzamora.

Witnesses say they heard popping glass and saw the flames.

When firefighters arrived, they found one victim dead in the doorway of the home. They say the roof of the house collapsed because of the fire, and the second victim was found underneath the debris, in the back of the house. They were father and son.

Neighbors tell News 4 WOAI that the father had recently taken his wife to the hospital because of heart problems. That's why she was not home when the fire broke out this morning.

The house is a total loss. Firefighters say the blaze appears to have been accidental. They are still investigating the exact cause.
