Firefighter Alfred Delosrios, of Ladder 173 in Howard Beach, Queens, was driving his green Jeep Cherokee south on Ocean Parkway when he smashed into a BMW as he tried to turn left onto Avenue M in Bensonhurst just before 10 p.m., law enforcement sources said.
The brand new blue BMW - which still had dealer plates on it - spun wildly out of control, hitting a lamp post before wrapping around a tree, said a witness, who added that there was almost 100 feet of freshly-laid skid marks leading up to the crash site.
The car's teenage driver - whose name was being withheld pending family notification - was killed instantly.
Two passengers in the car were rushed to Coney Island Hospital with unspecified injuries.
It was unclear what caused the deadly crash, but according to another source, Delosrios refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the scene. He was taken to Kings County Hospital in an unknown condition.
Records show Delosrios had a clean driving record.
A resident of nearby 1250 Ocean Parkway said the corner is the site of frequent accidents.
"You have to have respect for Ocean Parkway," she said. "We've had a number of deaths - especially right there"
