WASHINGTON TWP. -- A little wet weather did not keep more than 50 local firefighters and community officials from kicking off plans for a new substation along Greentree Road Saturday.
Firefighters proudly posed in front of two trucks -- and a lot of wet dirt -- after a brief groundbreaking ceremony for the 57,000-square-foot substation, which will be built right next to Bells Elementary School. The building will likely house two trucks and about 20 firefighters, according to Chief John Hoffman.
Hoffman said the Greentree Road location will serve as a better "access point" for local emergencies.
