The Moline Fire Department accepted the resignation of a firefighter found drunk on the scene of a fire last month.
The Chief Etheridge's hopes this is a chapter the fire department can put behind them. The un-named firefighter was at the scene of a fatal fire at 16th Ave on February 24th. The department says he showed up legally drunk in his fire truck. He later failed a beathalizer test.
The firefighter will not face any criminal charges and the department is not releasing any specific details. Alderman Mike Crotty says he supports Chief Etheridge's decision. "He was not actually in the truck when Chief Etheridge arrived at the scene, and that was went into part of the decision....so I support his decision 100%,"says Alderman Crotty.
The firefighter will receive his full pension.
