Fire Destroys Popular Washington State Restaurant

"The Lakewood Fire Department found direct evidence that there was an arson committed," said Commander Dave Hall with the Lakewood Fire Department.
LAKEWOOD - A popular Lakewood restaurant was destroyed in an early Monday morning fire. That blaze was just one of three nearby fires that firefighters responded to within a few hours.

A KOMO 4 News crew was at the scene of one fire when they saw flames jumping off the roof of a building just down the street.

Detectives say an arsonist is responsible for the blazes, and they do have a suspect in custody.

"The Lakewood Fire Department found direct evidence that there was an arson committed," said Commander Dave Hall with the Lakewood Fire Department.

The clues pointing to an arsonist were all there: two fires in the same spot in a span of 3 hours. Investigators found "sets" that showed someone tried several times to set the abandoned motel on fire.

What they didn't know was that the arsonist would strike again.
