WESTVILLE -- Three children escaped without injury from a fire which gutted a Hazel Avenue home here Monday afternoon.

Fire erupted in the two-story home at 344 Hazel Ave. about 3:35 p.m. while two children whose mother was at work and another child were inside.

All three escaped unharmed and went to a neighbor's house, two neighbors confirmed. They were in the custody of their mothers as firefighters continued to battle the blaze past sundown.
