Elderly Man Dies In New Jersey Blaze

TRENTON - An elderly man died last night when fire swept through his apartment, destroying the second and third floors of a three-story house on North Clinton Avenue.

The victim lived alone in the second-floor apartment. He had lived there several years, a neighbor said.

When firefighters arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m., they found heavy smoke pouring from the upper-story windows of the house in the 400 block of North Clinton Avenue, then entered the house and found the victim, a man in his 70s, who already was dead, police said.
