ELMER -- U.S. Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo, R-2nd Dist., Friday toured the Elmer Fire Department to see the new equipment purchased with $143,820 in federal fire safety grants.

"These grants represent an important investment in safety for the people of Elmer and Southern New Jersey," said LoBiondo. "I am pleased that we have been able to secure these funds. I want to salute the men and women of the Elmer Fire Department for their dedication and hard work. These funds will assist them in their efforts to protect their communities and represent a true partnership between federal and local governments. I am happy to have been able to play a small role in making Southern New Jersey a safer place."

Elmer Fire Chief Robert Crim said he appreciated the funds to purchase new equipment. "We are grateful for the support from the federal government, and hope it can continue," said Crim. "These funds really go a long way to help out the smaller fire departments that don't have access to a lot of money, especially in rural areas. We really appreciate the help and support." Related:
