Marion County, Feb. 13 - A 22-year-old man is under arrest for allegedly starting a fire inside an apartment in Perry Township.
The fire started just after 2:30 Friday morning on the first floor of a unit in the Greentree Apartments. It then spread to the second floor and consumed the east side of the building.
The call originally came in to 911 as a burglary in progress.
Twelve apartments were affected and nobody was hurt.
Timothy Hodges now faces charges of arson and burglary. Still no word on how the fire started.
And on the Indianapolis south side, there is no cause yet on another fire. This one happening just before seven o'clock Friday morning.
Nobody was seriously hurt; but several people, including a young girl and a baby; were trapped on the second floor before firefighters could get to the scene.
A neighbor saw the smoke and ran to help the family. Five people were inside the home at the time of the fire. The girl's father was taken to Wishard Hospital for smoke inhalation.
