The Staten Island firehouse that was home to a booze-fueled New Year's Eve brawl is shedding its alcoholic appellation for a more respectable moniker.

The "Southern Comfort" firehouse on Amboy Road, home to Engine Co. 151 and Ladder Co. 76, is looking to change its nickname to South Shore Pride - and to ditch the picture on its patch showing a firefighter snoozing in a rocking chair, according to the Staten Island Advance.

The new patch will have a map of Staten Island with a star representing the city's southernmost firehouse.

Firefighter Robert Walsh had to undergo facial reconstruction after fellow smoke-eater Michael Silvestri allegedly bashed him in the face with a chair at the firehouse.

Walsh was taken to the hospital by Terence Sweeney, the captain in charge of the firehouse, while other firefighters attempted to scrub the place clean, investigators said.

Sweeney retired yesterday in a deal with Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta that cost him a $90,000 fine and a two-rank demotion.
