The Greenwich Fire Department is facing fines for failing to keep track of its firefighters at a fire. State officials say the department violated regulations designed to ensure firefighter safety.

The fire in question took place on December 5 at 312 Davis Ave. Three firefighters were injured when they had to jump from a third-story window to escape the fire.

State labor officials cited the department and fined it $560 last month. The town was also ordered to create procedures to keep firefighters safe. The citation requires the department to provide periodic refresher courses on its accountability procedures, such as the importance of firefighters reporting to an accountability officer before fighting a fire.
