Police have recovered an American Medical Response ambulance that was stolen from outside a Connecticut hospital Sunday evening.
The ambulance was taken from Bridgeport Hospital at about 6 p.m. Sunday and was found Monday morning in Naugatuck, about 25 miles away.
Naugatuck Police Lt. Jeremiah Scully said a resident called police at 9:17 a.m. Monday to report an ambulance blocking their driveway. An officer responded, ran the vehicle's registration and learned it had been stolen out of Bridgeport.
Bridgeport police could not immediately be reached for an update on the investigation, but spokeswoman Sheila Santiago told the Connecticut Post that the resident who reported the ambulance had nothing to do with the theft. She also said the ambulance was not damaged and that nothing was taken from it. The vehicle has been returned to AMR.
