(Hollis-WABC, November 7, 2003) - It was a scary situation for firefighters in Queens. One was trapped in a burning house-fire and nine others are injured.

The scene has been cleared at this point and the concern is now with the nine firefighters who are being treated at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. All of their injuries are minor and that is good news.

When crews arrived on the scene at 195th Place and Carpenter, they found a house fire going strong. The fire started in the basement and spread up onto the first floor. Neighbors told firefighters that there were people inside and that is why they went charging inside to try and get those people out. No one was inside, but in the process, nine firefighters were hurt. The residents who got out believe the fire started in the basement.

Resident: "It was a wall fire and she had a heater plugged in. The outlet blew out of the wall onto the bed and the bed caught on fire."

Four people lived in the house and they all got out. Firefighters say they are going to go in and do a search regardless of what the neighbors tell them or not. They go in and check just to be safe.
