Tennessee Fire Truck Overturns; Four Firefighters Injured

Authorities say a fire truck overturned this morning, injuring four firefighters and one female driver.
Memphis, TN - Authorities say a fire truck overturned around 10 this morning at Holmes and Ross in the Hickory Hill area. The fire truck was apparently involved in a crash with a Honda Accord. The fire truck overturned on the shoulder of Holmes, while the Honda sustained rear end damage and ended up in a ditch on the other side of the road. (See aerial video) Police and five medical units responded.

Five people were injured. Four were firefighters, the fifth person was the female driver of the Honda, identified as Cheryl Bernard. Bernard is a Shelby County jailer and was just getting off her shift at work when the accident happened. Bernard and a fire department lieutenant were taken to the Med, while the other three firefighters were transported to Methodist Central. The extent of their injuries aren't known at this time.

The fire truck was Engine 55.
