Atlanta Firefighter Injured Battling Apartment Blaze

One City of Atlanta firefighter had to be helped from the fire. He was listed in stable condition after being treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

Eight people are without a home after a fire swelled to consume the roof at a Campbellton Road apartment complex.

Fire investigators said the blaze likely started in an apartment kitchen before spreading to and destroying several units at the Regal Heights Apartments. Red Cross workers were assisting those affected with housing, clothing and other needs.

While no injuries were reported, one City of Atlanta firefighter had to be helped from the fire. He was listed in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital after being treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

Firefighters said a firewall fortunately kept the flames from doing any further damage.
