BEIJING (AP) -- A hotel caught fire in central China on Friday, killing seven people and injuring 11, some of whom jumped out of the building to escape, authorities said.

The fire Friday morning at the Shensen Hotel in Luoyang, in Henan province, was extinguished after about 20 minutes, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

In December 2000, a fire at a disco in Luoyang killed 309 people. Investigators blamed the high death toll on locked emergency exits, and 23 people held responsible were sentenced to prison terms of up to 13 years.
