PLAINFIELD TWP. -- A family of four escaped injury during a house fire late Wednesday, but their home sustained heavy damage and will need extensive repairs, homeowner Ken Detweiler said Friday.
Detweiler said the fire apparently started in a chimney about 11:30 p.m. and quickly spread through the nearby ceiling and walls.
He said the fire, smoke and water damage left the home at 929 Browntown Road extensively damaged. His family will be staying with his parents for about three months during the repairs, he said.
